Day Camp FAQ

Here are some answers to common questions about LASER Day Camp:

How much is camp? How do I pay?

Day camp is $90 per child per day which includes the cost of the field trip and transportation (if applicable). For Summer Camp, please refer to the Weekly Fee Chart on our website. You will be emailed an invoice on the business day before camp. The email included a link to pay online with Visa, Mastercard or Discover. If you have an automatic payment set up with LASER, it will be included in your payment on the 1st of the following month.

Do you provide lunch?

No, each child should have a nut-free, non-perishable sack lunch in their backpack. We serve a morning snack around 8:30 am and an afternoon snack around 2:45 pm.

If you forget to pack a nut-free lunch for your child (and are unable to bring one), we charge $15 to provide lunch.

Please note that LASER is a nut-free program. If you pack a lunch that includes nuts, your child is not able to eat it at LASER. We will keep the lunch you provided in our kitchen and give it back to you at pick up time. We will provide lunch for free if it’s the first time, and we charge $15 for each repeated occurrence.

What do I need to pack?

Please pack a non-perishable, nut-free lunch and activity and weather-appropriate clothing, socks and shoes.

We encourage everyone to bring a set of spare clothes in their backpacks, especially kindergarteners.

On a swimming day, please have campers change into their swimsuit before coming to LASER and bring a towel.

My child is too young to swim. How do swimming field trips work for younger children?

Younger swimmers who aren't ready for deeper pools will use shallow wading pools. We provide in-water supervision following the required adult-to-child ratios of each pool. Typically, we maintain a 1:5 ratio for children aged 5-6, consistent with most pools. For other children, our minimum ratio is 1:10. LASER also assigns our own lifeguard to actively supervise children in the water in addition to the pool's lifeguards. Some pools require children to pass a swim test and will provide life jackets if available for access to deeper areas. Children must wear their LASER shirts (which are distributed at the beginning of camp) on swim trips to ensure they are easily identifiable as a LASER camper.

What time do I have to drop off at LASER?

Please drop off any time between 8:00 am to 10:00 am. For field trips, we will be leaving shortly after 10 am.

Where do I drop off for camp in the morning?

You can drop off and pick up your child at the Music Hallway located in front of the covered basketball court. It is next to the barn style storage shed. Please follow LASER signage to find the drop-off/pick-up location and ring the doorbell when you arrive.

Please sign in on the attendance sheets when you arrive and sign out as you pick-up. If you are having trouble finding us, please call (206) 525-9160.

What time do I need to pick up my child?

Please pick up and sign out your children by 6:30 pm.  Any pick-up after 6:30 pm will be charged a $10 per child late fee for the first 10 minutes. After that, pickups will be charged $2 per minute per child for every minute thereafter.

What time will the kids return from the field trip?

We should return from field trips at around 4:30 pm, although we cannot guarantee return time. You may call (206) 525-9160 if you'd like to make sure we've returned from the field trip before coming to LASER.

Can I have my neighbor, grandparents, etc. pick up my child?

As long as the person picking up your child is over 18 years old and you give us authorization, we can release your child to them.  If the person isn't already on your authorized pick up list, please email bryant@laserchildcare.org or call 206-525-9160 to let us know of the authorized pick up.  Please have them bring a valid ID when they pick up. Due to licensing requirements, we cannot release children to any one under 18 years old.
